This was our last game of the season and oh boy what season it has been. The girls started the game as they had finished it on Wednesday, playing football. The goals started to come with Sophie, Charlie, Erin and Beth all getting one Emmo got three and Kaileigh got 4 with us winning comfortably 11 nil.

Parent’s player of the Match Emmo

A big thank you to all the parents for their support this season a big thank you to Kev and to Paul.

Now the end of season player report:

Keepers

Soz has been a fantastic person to have in the squad working hard and driving everyone mad but all the girls love her to bits. She has come on so much as a keeper you can tell this as she now does not have to say soz so often
Marks out of 10/10.

Chloe another keeper who has come on so much. It showed that in the last game where she dive d at someone’s feet to claim the ball she would not have done that at the start.
Marks out of 10/10.

Defenders

Little Lucy this young lady has been with me for years and years and every years she gets better and better. Lucy will always give you 100% in training and in games.
Marks out of 10/10.

Loz was a lady who I brought in as a squad player but claimed the central defence spot her very own. It took a little bit of time for her to settle to the way I coach but she has come on leaps and bounds. This young lady will go far.
Marks out of 10/10.

Fuzzy is the best defender I have ever seen simple as. Her speed and reading of the game is great. Her ability to move forward into midfield and score goals is fantastic.
Marks out of 10/10.

Charlie in her first season at 11 aside has played left back all season and has done a great job she has also played a centre and left wing expect good think from her next season.
Marks out of 10/10.

Charlene was really unlucky as picked up a really bad injury before the season started and was not till December that she was back on board. By that time Loz and fuzzy and created a really good working relationship. Is always willing to listen and will make a great football.
Marks out of 10/10.

Midfield

Tia started at fullback and was rubbish now she has found her spot at right wing and made it her own her runs down the line are fantastic and her never say die attitude is what a manager wants to see.
Marks out of 10/10.

Sophie this girl is great she works and works and works has a lovely left foot expect good things from her next season.
Marks out of 10/10.

Emmo: stunning player who leads by example that’s why she’s captain don’t need to say anymore.
Marks out of 10/10.

Nat: apart from the times she fall over Nat has been a key play in the team this year able to link the defence and the middle field and has a lovely shot when she wants to.
Marks out of 10/10.

Erin: for someone who has never played football before she, has come on leaps and bounds expect good things from her next season. Her passing and running has come on so much.
Marks out of 10/10.

Molly: there is a player waiting to come out I’ve done half the job the next person will hopefully get the lot. A lovely person who will always try so hard for you, at least I have taught her left and right.
Marks out of 10/10.

Bumble: again another player that’s nearly there I’ve seen glimpses of it next season I hope to see the real Bumble.
Marks out of 10/10.

Forwards

Marks out of 10/10.

Mae: my little pocket rocket going to miss her next season hope she does well at C of E
Marks out of 10/10.

Kaileigh: this girl is a goal scoring machine 71+ goals for the season speaks for its self. A girl who will run and run and that’s in training. From the player that first came to me to she has come on so much.
Marks out of 10/10.

Parents: I’ve had the pleasure of having some of the best set of parents a manager could ever hope for. Opposition managers have commented on the numbers that have turned up week in week out both for home and away. A Hugh big thank you to all of them.
Marks out of 10/10

Coundon Court 0 - 9 Coventry City Ladies
League 16/5/07

This game was important to me as it would show me whether the girls could step up a level. After what I would describe as our worst game at the weekend, it would be interesting to see if the girls would or could produce the goods. Straight from the off the girls started to play football, at times the football that was being played was outstanding. From the defenders to the forwards every girl tried to play football if they could not go forward they went sideways or backward from one side of the pitch to the other the football just flowed. Tia was having a storming game on the right wing; Beth was having by far her best game up front. Emmo and Natalie were running the midfield with some fantastic play. The defence was mopping up anything Coundon could throw at us with Charlie, Charlene, Fuzzy and Lucy hold in the line and getting forward as and when they could. Eryn had a great game when she came on as did Loz and Bumble and Sophie. Molly had her now steady game and Kaileigh was playing a great holding game. As for my two keepers they did what they had to.

I was really proud of the girls today as they worked so had and played some fantastic, unbelievable, incredible, out of this world and fabulous football. The move of the match was when the ball was played from one side of the pitch to the other and then back again to be placed in the back of the net and Tias drag back and then back heel across the box was worthy of a mention. We even had a headed goal.

Parent Player of the Match: Charlie.

Redditch United Jewels 0 - 3 Coventry City Ladies
League 12/5/07

This was a strange game where the girls seemed to want to make hard work of it. From the off Coventry looked disjointed, this may have been with 2 of their normal staring line up on the bench but the girls who started are good enough. Coventry had all the pressure through the game. If I was being honest this was our worse game of the season. The girls have set themselves high standards and today the did not get anywhere near. Don’t get me wrong they worked hard and tried hard but…….

Parent player of the match Molly (well deserved)

Alveston Juniors 1 - 4 Coventry City Ladies
League 21/4/07

Coventry visited Alverston on a lovely sunny day. With the league title in the bag, Coventry made some team changes. Emmo, Nat Fuzzy and Gobby all started on the bench. Alverston where soon harrying the Coventry team closing down when a blue shirt had the ball. Alverston opened the scoring with a well worked goal much to the pleasure of the home supporters. Coventry soon brought on there big guns and with the pressure soon showed with Coventry winning 4-1.

Parent player of the match Soz.

Coventry City Ladies 14 - 0 Redditch United Gems
League 14/4/07

We are the champions

Well as games go this was the big one for us we need 1 point for the title and 3 point to guarantee the title. On one of the loveliest day of the year so far the girls arrived early ready for the off. A big thank you must go to Little Lucy who stood down today as we had one to many players.

As a manager I did not have to tell the girls what to do. The instructions where simple play football, and straight from the off that’s what we did. Redditch had kick off and Coventry stole the ball and played some lovely passing football that ended in a goal, scored by Sophie, soon after Kaileigh got her first of 5 for thee game. Coventry if any thing where trying far to hard and where wasting loads of chance in front of goal(we will be working on that girls rest a shored) Some of the play was great today and the girls awareness of where each other was, was awesome. Tia was having her best game of the season linking up well with Emmo and Natalie. Kaileigh was ably assisted up front by Beth and then Mae. What was really nice was being able to bring on 4 subs and it still not make a difference to the game. Chloe was on hand in goal when she was called on and did not but a foot wrong.

Half time: Coventry City Ladies 5 - 0 Redditch United Gems

Coventry where on a mission, and more goals where to follow. The defense linked well today with Molly, Fuzzy, Charlie, Sicknote and Loz all playing really well. Bianca had great game when she came on as did Eryn. Soz was now on and matched Chloe not butting a foot wrong. Redditch did not give up once and kept going and going and at times played some great football. Redditch’s number 8 was fantastic. Coventry never once gave Redditch time on the ball and battled hard for everything.

Scorers: Kaileigh 5 Tia 3 Sophie 2 Emily, Emma, Bethany and Mae all with one each.

So as the final whistle went Coventry City Under 12s B where League Champions. Let the party begin. A big thank you to all the parents, family and friends who came to watch.

Match report by Emily B (Emmo)

It was a perfect day for a game of football, the sky was blue, the sun was shining and it was very hot. We had a bit of a problem as we had 17 players and were only able to play 16 of them. Huge thanks to Lucy Smith for stepping out so that everyone else had the chance to play. If we one this game the league champions name would be given to us. Straight off at the whistle, we began to play good football which ended in a goal. The first half went on pretty much the same with the team working well together and putting 5 goals in the back of the net. We walked off for half time to hear everyone cheering for us. Dave spoke to us and told us to keep playing football and encourage each other. This is what we did in the second half. Again we got stuck straight in and pleased everyone by soon putting another goal in the net. 8 more shots made the net bulge, but also about twenty hit the corner flag! Kaileigh scored a staggering five goals, Tia scored a great hat trick, Sophie scored two brilliant goals and if that wasn’t enough, Fuzzy, Beth, Mae and Emmo backed it up with four more goals! We had about 60 players today with all our supporting friends and family! We left the pitch to a huge cheer and then celebrated, with sweets and buck fizz! It was a great game and we are all hugely excited about being officially given the league title!

Match report by Molly B (Daisy)

On Saturday 14th April we won the League, and we played Redditch Gems We got off to a good start and in like the first 30 seconds we had scored 2 goals by Sophie and Kaileigh I think. In the first half Gems had there first shot on goal but was beautifully saved by Chloe. Don’t now the score by the first half but we were winning by quite a lot! (5-0 half time Editor)

In the 2nd half they had about 4 or 5 shots on goal but Soz saved them we scored a lot more goals now but I can’t remember who scored them. At the end of the Match we won 14 nil people who scored are;
Mae-1
Beth-1
Sophie-2
Fuzzie-1
Tia-3
Kayleigh-5
Emmo-1
This was our biggest win of the season

Match Report by Kaileigh P (Gobby)

This was a game that was important to us girls for we knew that we only needed one point to win the league. Coventry was in there with a goal within 60 seconds. The ball was being passed around and we were missing a few shots on goal but soon they all came.

Half Time: Coventry City 5-0 Redditch Gems

After a talk with Dave the second whistle had blew and the ball was being played out to the wings to be crossed in. The goals were shared out today; the goals were coming from Lefty, Emmo, Gobby, Beth, Mae, Fuzzy and Tia.

Final whistle blow and score was:
Coventry City 14-0 Redditch Gems
Lefty-2 Gobby-5 Emmo-1 Beth-1 Mae-1 Fuzzy-1 Tia-3

When the final whistle blew all the team were excited for we all knew that we had won the league and we were all sprayed in bucks fizz and were giving sweets. We are all overjoyed and we wouldn’t have been able to do it with out our wonderful coaches Thank You.

We are the champions

Knowle Girls 'B' 1 - 2 Coventry City Ladies
League 31/3/07

The match reports today are a bit different as I have asked some of the girls to write the match report today as well as my own.

This season seem to have been going for ages and ages and the end is only just in site. Coventry traveled just up the M42 to play against Knowle. Knowle are 2nd in the league and are a good little side and try to play good football. Knowle could still catch us so this was a big game. Cov were without Emmo and Soz today and Chloe was also suffering from a very heavy cold but wanted to play. Knowle play on a small pitch that suits there style of play. Coventry struggled first half playing into a strong head wind that was blowing straight down the pitch. Coventry were playing some nice football at time, but were still making mistakes. Knowle scored from one such mistake when we failed to clear our lines.

Half time:Knowle Girls 'B' 1 - 0 Coventry City Ladies

Coventry now had the wind and it soon started to show with Coventry encamped in the Knowle half of the pitch. The girls could not get it in the back of the net they did everything right but just could not score. The break though came when Sophie was fouled in side the box and the ref gave a penalty. Fuzzy stepped up and coolly slotted it in the right hand corner of the goal. Coventry kept up the pressure and where soon rewarded with another goal from Kaileigh.

Hard fought game with lots of mistakes being made from the Coventry girls.

Parents player of the match Natalie.

Match Report by Natalie B W

It was windy today so we had to play proper football, because Emmo and Soz weren’t there we had to make a few slight changes but we were ready to go. As we started we struggled to get around the pitch as we were not used to playing on a smaller pitch than usual. Sophie started in centre midfield and coped very well for the first half; Charlie was pushed up into midfield on the left and played very well. When Kaileigh got the ball she ran and was crossing it into the box but we couldn’t get it in the back of the net. The first goal came when we didn’t clear out lines properly and they scored slotting the ball past Chloe. After a few breakthroughs we still couldn’t get it in.

Half time 1-1.

After a quick talk from Dave we were back into the 2nd half they were looking to win this game but Lozza played well with Charlene and didn’t let another one through Lucy did well playing the ball up the line for Tia and Erin to run onto. Fuzzy got pushed into centre midfield and everyone else was back in their normal positions. We finally scored when Fuzzy scored a good penalty in the top right hand corner. Coventry kept trying hard to score but just could not hit the back of the net. A goal finally came through when Kaileigh scored the 2nd goal with Mae backing her up all the way. I think that wasn’t our best game and we could of made it a lot easier for ourselves but after a long 60 minutes the final whistle blew and we all cheered.

Parents Player of the match Natalie.

Match Report by Charlie R and Sophie T

Coventry started off really well until Knowle scored making the score 1-0 to them. We played well in the first half because Cov knew that they needed to score some goals. Leftie got fouled in the second half, which gave us the opportunity to score from a penalty taken by Fuzzy. This was a lot of pressure for Fuzzy because she knew we had to score. Luckily fuzz scored making the score 1-1. Coventry scored again with Kaileigh blasting the ball in to the back of the net. This was a great come back for Cov as the final score was 2-1 to Cov.

Aston Villa Reserves 3 - 4 Coventry City Ladies
League 24/3/07

Over the cause of a season you have to write around 25 or more match reports, some times you think I wonder who reads them some times you wonder if they are any good. Hand on heart today’s match report is going to be a joy to write. I have been lucky to have one of the most fantastic squad you could ask for; they give 200% every game. They are not top of the table by mistake and today they showed me and the other adult who were lucky enough to be at the game what they can REALLY do.

Villa started the game with their number 6 man marking Kaileigh we guessed this was going to happen and Kaileigh started the game on the right wing. The game was going to be very tight with Villa doing their homework. Coventry once again tried to play football ably assisted by the villa slope. Mae steadied the what were to become frail nerves by scoring her first of 2 goals ( a big thank you to Mae as she has been unwell again and was not sure if she could play). Natalie was having a storming performance in midfield in what was a very competitive area of the pitch. Emmo was her usual self seeming to be everywhere. The defence looked solid with the new look centre half partnership of Loz and Sicknote working well, Lucy and Charlie where both working the line well as full backs. Emmo took a bad knock and had to come off to replaced by Fuzzy (a special mention for Fuzzy as she has been unwell all week and up to this morning was not going to play. She also wanted to start as a sub as she did not think she could last a whole game, a big thank you Fuzzy). Kaileigh was having no joy from her shadow but was working really hard and putting in some monster challenges as was Nat and Fuzzy. Sophie looked dangerous on the left and was supplying some lovely ball into the box. Erin came on for Beth who had put in a great performance up front. Erin put in another great performance when she came on. Half time: Aston Villa Reserves 0 - 2 Coventry City Ladies

Villa always like to kick down hill 2nd half and boy do they like it. They soon had the Coventry team pinned into the 18 yard box and a goal soon came. 1-2, 10 minutes gone

Soz had to come off after taking a knock when she went down for a save. Chloe was soon called into action. A Villa shot came in thought a crowded 18 yard box leaving no chance for Chloe. 2-2, 17 minutes gone.

Coventry could not clear their line, Fuzzy was moved into defence to play five at the back and Kaileigh was dropped in to midfield followed by her shadow. Villa score again to make 3-2 22 minutes gone.

Emmo and Bianca came on for Sophie and Sicknote in what turned out to be an inspired substitution. Coventry started to run at the Villa midfield and it paid dividends when Emmo slotted the ball past the Villa Keeper. 3-3, 25 minutes played.

Villa looked shocked and Coventry looked like they knew they could pull this game back. As for the parent and coaches of both teams they aged a few years in the second half. Coventry broke again and Emmo scored again too the sound of mass hysteria from the City faithful. 3-4 28 minutes to gone.

The Villa lines man had given up trying to keep the parent and coaches back as he said with a game like this it impossible. The last 2 minutes went by very slowly, but when the final whistle did go the girls and parent went mad.

I’ve been involved in girls football for years than I can remember and I have to say that was a fantastic game of football, played in a great manner by both teams. I would like to take this time to say thank you to John for his kind words to the girls at the end of the game they where much appreciated. He praised them on their never give up attitude, also thank you to the Villa team for making it a great game of football. What can I say about my team you are all stars every last one of you from Molly who did not get on to Fuzzy and Mae who should not have been playing. To Nat, Lucy, Loz, Soz, Erin Emmo Biannca Kaileigh Beth Sophie Charlie Chloe and Sicknote you where all fantastic and showed everyone what you can. So once again girls you where:
FANTASTIC.

Parents Player of the match Mae and if I could the whole squad.

Coventry City Ladies 8 - 0 Solihull Borough
League 17/3/07

Coventry started the game with the instructions that if you can play like you did last week then you can play like it every week and if you shoot make sure it counts. Well the game was very scrappy to start with, with Solihull putting players in front of the ball. Coventry scored with a high hopeful cross with Kaileigh saying after the game “it wos meant 2 ave bin across but it woz high n it kind of went in” The goal did not steady the nerves and the game was still scrappy. Kaileigh got her 2nd with another high hopeful cross she says she meant it I’m not so sure

Half time: Coventry City Ladies 2 - 0 Solihull Borough

With a flea in their ear and the instructions of play football and pass the girls soon started playing great football. The best goal of the game came from corner and after some lovely inter play Nat scored a peach of a goal, The 2nd half performance was outstanding with Nat Emmo Beth and Kaileigh with 3 more all scoring. By the end of the game Charlie was on the wing for the first time ever the midfield was Tia and Bianca with Erin and Beth up front. Molly also so had her best game of the season with a fantastic performance in midfield.

Great game of football with all the girls working hard, I’m afraid Solihull got the back lash from last week’s game. With the girls being very clinical in front of goal.

Parent Player of the match: Kaileigh .

Coventry City Ladies 0 - 3 Aston Villa
League Shield 10/3/07

This will be a very short match report for today’s game. Basically I don’t know what to say.

Every player who wore a Sky Blue Shirt today gave me everything. I can not fault them in anyway. The best team lost the only difference was Villa had three shots and scored three. I am so immensely proud of every one of my players and I wish to thank each and everyone of them for the commitment and effort they put into today. On any other day we would have won no ifs no buts we would have won. So girls hold your heads up and don’t be ashamed of your performance today it was outstanding.

Once again girls Thank You!!

Also a big thank you to all the parents for their support today.

Parent player of the match Emma Randle.

Coventry City Ladies 4 - 0 Stratford Town
League 3/3/07

For those of my team that can not remember the think you played today was football, I know its been that long since we play. The game this morning was in doubt after last nights very heavy rain, but after some forking and sweeping GAME ON. Coventry looked like they had not played for some time and we had players missing and as the game went on we also lost players to illness as well, oh the joys of being a football manager. Stratford came out of the blocks looking for a big scalp today and soon put Coventry under pressure with a ball across the box that should have been put away. From the resulting clearance Kaileigh broke and scored. Stratford soon where on level terms when another cross was not cleared and the ball was slotted past Chloe. Beth came off feeling ill as did Kaileigh who for the rest of the game was on and off like a yoyo.

Half time score: Coventry City Ladies 1 - 1 Stratford Town

As Stratford tired Coventry got better and started to play football and to the relief of the parents and management team the goals started to come. Sophie was struggling as she had played for her school a number of times this week. The back four of Loz Charlie Lucy and Sicknote had a great game. Fussy was pushed up into midfield had a great game as well. Nat who was carrying a knock for most of the game was her usual self and scored a lovely goal late on. Captain Emmo had a great game playing in a number of positions as and when the need a raised. Up front Mae was running and running. Woody had one of her best games today and rounded of the performance with a well worked goal. Kaileigh was struggling today but still managed 2 goals. A special mention to Kim the Stratford keeper who was outstanding.

Well we have a game under our belt. All I can say is role on the Villa next week. A big thank you to Emmo today as she was fantastic playing everywhere.

Parent Player of the match Sophie.

Coventry City Ladies 4 -0 Solihull Borough
Shield 4/2/07

All I can say is thank god for Solihull. Not being disrespectful to any of the other teams in the league but Solihull are the only team to have pushed us and made the girls work hard and I mean hard.

Don't get me wrong the girls look a little ring rusty still, but this game has given me more things to work on than the last 6 games put together. Coventry started off brightly but was kept at bay by the best U12s goalkeeper in our league by far. Kaileigh was getting frustrated as she was unable to get her usual shots away. Solihull packed the defence out and it took us some time break this down.

Second half was a lot better and when we played football we looked good we just did not do it that often.

A big thank you to all the adult who turned up to watch it was much appreciated.

Parent player of the match Fuzzy.

Tamworth 1 - 10 Coventry City Ladies
League 27/1/07

This was Coventry's first game in a few weeks due to the inclement weather we have had lately. The pitch was a little heavy but that was to be expected and the grass was a little long. But who cares it's a game of football at last.

Coventry were with out Mae (Titch) and Chloe (Pinkie) due to illness and Tia (Teabag) unavailable. Soz started the game in goal with usual back 4 of little Lucy, Fuzzy, Loz and Charlie. The defence today had to work really hard at time with the pitch holding the ball up and Tamworth playing on the break. Sophie was having fun out wide left with a very physical contest with one of the Tamworth players.

Emmo and Cheesy struggled in midfield as they where being crowded out with the number of players Tamworth packed the midfield with. Bumble out wide right was linking well with little Lucy. Up front Beth had on her scoring boots scoring a hat trick. Gobby who in her eyes had a bad game, also notched up a hat trick. Sicknote slotted well in to defence when she came on as did Littlewoods and Daisy. With Littlewoods scoring a goal, Fuzzy also scored two and Cheesy also scored.

Coventry looked ring rusty today but the game was a good work out and something the players needed. What was nice today was that we went over the 100 goals scored mark for the season. I am really proud if the girls their attitude is spot on with the girls working so hard in training and on the pitch.

The Tamworth manager wanted all the girls to know how well they played today. He thought they played better today than they did against Tamworth earlier in the season when we won 9-0.

We are there to be beaten girls so let's step it up.

Parent Player of the Match: Beth

Coventry City Ladies 13 - 0 Bournville Warriors 'B'
League 6/1/07

Once again the season is up and running after the mini winter break. Coventry started the New Year with a game against Bourneville. Coventry started the game with Fuzzy up front as Beth had gone to Bristol to watch the City. In Fuzzys place was Sick Note starting her first game of the season after returning from a long injury also making a welcome return on the subs bench was the one the only Soz. Once again Coventry started very slowly and at times looked very poor. Within the first 10 mins Coventry had 3 or 4 one on ones with the keeper and instead of putting it in the corners they gave it straight to the keeper. Slowly the goals did come with 6 being scored in the first half.

Half time score: Coventry City Ladies 6 - 0 Bournville Warriors 'B'

One thing about the current squad is they do know when they had done things wrong, I asked them what did they think of the first half and they gave me all the things they where doing wrong I just told them to change it. The play second half was miles better and more goals started to come with Natalie scoring the goal of the game, picking the ball up in her own half and driving towards the net to hit the ball past the stranded keeper. The defence where made to work today which was good.

Gobby 5
Emmo 3
Cheesey 3
Sick Note 1

Coventry will have to step there game up next week if they want to stay undefeated. As the girls where told at training they have got to work twice as hard now to stay where they are.

Parents player of the match: Lauren Moore

Coventry City Ladies 11 - 0 Redditch United Jewels
League 2/12/06

Once again Coventry ventured back in to the league after their foray in the cup last week against Stratford. This weeks opponents being Redditch Jewels who are 8 places below Coventry. On a nice sunny day it was chance to play some good football. Redditch straight from the off had 5 or 6 players at the back, this carried on all the way though the game stifling Coventry's play. The goals soon started to come and by half time Coventry where 6 -0 up.

The second half was much of the same with Chloe having nothing to do in goal except count the blades of grass round her and enjoy the rich odours of the Farm yard behind the goal. Coventry where never going to concede a goal and played with only 3 at the back with 4 in midfield and 3 upfront. This was no the best game the girls have played by a long way but they where able to keep a clean sheet this week.

The girls go into the winter break undefeated having played at time some great football. But unless we are not careful we will slip up so the girls must still strive to improve their game both in training and in matches.

Parents player of the Match: Kaileigh Gobby

Coventry City Ladies 8 - 1 Stratford Town
League Shield 25/11/06

This was a game that was lucky to be played with so much rain over the last few days.

Coventry have played Stratford twice already this season, so the girls needed reminding that it was new game and forget about past results. Before the start of the game I asked all the girls to try and play the passing game that we sometimes see in small burst in games. From the off Coventry looked like a team on a mission. The football was the very best they have ever played.

The girls where looking and creating space. Opening there body up and moving the ball around the pitch. Today I was so proud of every one of them. they where able to keep up the passing although the first half. Every girls looking comfortable on the ball. They ran with the ball when they need to and passed it when they need to. From one side of the pitch to the other. The goals where shared round today. Emmo 2 Mae 2 Kaileigh 1 Fuzzy 3.

I know this seem a strange match report but all I can say FANTASTIC FOOTBALL GIRLS YOUR BEST EVER.

Parents Player of the match Emma Randle (Fuzzy).

Coventry City Ladies 9 - 0 Tamworth
League 18/11/06

Tamworth started the brighter of the 2 teams as Coventry got off to a slow and unsteady start on what was a lovely day for football. Coventry started to get in the game but where frustrated by the Tamworth players who massed around the ball. The dead lock was broken when Kaileigh got her first of the game closely followed by her second and third and fourth. At time Tamworth looked the better team as the Coventry players did not seem to know what to do. Eyrn slotted away the 5th goal of the half after some rare passing football by the Coventry girls. The silliest moment of the game was when Beth broke forward only to be tackled by her own player. Funny now but not at the time.

Half time: Coventry City Ladies 5 - 0 Tamworth.

After a little bit of an ear bending at half time Coventry took control of the game and dominated the rest of the game. The girls did what was asked of them and started to pass the ball around and play football and Tamworth did not know what to do with the pressure. Kaileigh carried on where she left off scoring 2 more this half with Tia scoring another and Fuzzy scoring her first of the season with a lovely corner set piece with a short ball to Kaileigh passed across the box for Fuzzy to slot home.

Coventry took along time to get going today but when they did played some great football

Parent Player of the match Eryn

Stratford Town 1 - 10 Coventry City Ladies
League 11/11/06

Coventry went on their travels today with a game against Stratford. Coventry had already played Stratford pre season. Coventry welcomed back some of their missing players today but where still with out Charlene Tia and Soz. After a minutes silence the game got under away and nearly straight from the off Coventry scored with Kaileigh break through and scoring her first of 7 goals of the game. Coventry never got out of second gear today but where able to cope with anything Stratford throw at us. Sophie scored and an Own Goal made the half time score 5-0.

Coventry went out and within 1 minute of the start off Kaileigh grabbed another goal. It was easy to see that to many players had missed games and training as it really was showing. A mistake up front lead to a break away for Stratford who slotted home a conciliation goal. The best goal of the game was the last one. Kaileigh controlled the ball out side of the area and placed the ball past the stranded keeper.

The girls played well within themselves today but where still able to win against an improving Stratford side. The girls now need to step up if they want improve.

Coventry City Ladies 0 - 6 Marston Green
Open Cup 4/11/06

Coventry started today’s cup game with 7 players missing, so this was not going to be an easy day at the office with just 10 players. Marston Green right from the off put Coventry under pressure and a goal was quick to follow. Coventry struggled with many players playing out of position. Little Lucy was struggling with her breathing and was forced to come off for a while to get herself sorted out. Soz also took a knock as well and this caused a lengthy stoppage in play so that she could be strapped up. Coventry when they did break just could not put the ball into the back of the net. More Marston Green goals followed as Coventry got pulled out of shape.

Half time: Coventry City Ladies 0 - 5 Marston Green

Half time team talk went like this don’t worry about the score we want you to go out there and give us 100% fight and battle for every ball, id we let in more goals so be it. Because if you give us 100% then we can ask no more.

Straight from the off you could tell that Soz was not right and she was struggling to move although she did pull a lovely safe to put the ball over the Bar. A decision was made and Chloe went in Goal (more on Soz later). Coventry always looked like they might score but it was never to be. Marston Green only managed to score one more goal. We even managed to get one of our missing players onto the pitch as well.

Every player on that pitch deserves a special mention today. There 2nd half performance was out standing.
Little Lucy: Battle so hard today even though she was struggling with her breathing and gave us 100%
Charlie: Ran and Ran for me today 2nd half nothing seemed to get past her.
Natalie: Playing out of position today but gave me everything.
Chloe: Started the game outfield and did nothing wrong went in goal and once again did nothing wrong and pulled off a great save.
Bianca: worked her socks off on the left for me and never gave up.
Emmo: Lead by example to day with never say die attitude.
Molly: Started her first game today and battled and battled for every ball.
Kaileigh: Another player playing out of position who ran and ran and ran.
Beth: could not fault Beth today as she was our lone striker who harried the Marston Green Defence when ever she had the chance.
Sophie: this young lady was playing for her school and heard we where short so as soon as had finished made her way to us. Thanks Sophie and well done for making the final.

Now to Soz: Soz went off to hospital to get it checked and has broken her foot. So from me and all the players SOZ.
Get Well soon.

Solihull 3 - 4 Coventry City Ladies
League 21/10/06

This was the wake up call that both players and manger needed today. Coventry went to Solihull undefeated and the girls stepped on to the pitch with the idea that no one could beat them and that Solihull would just role over and let them win. Over the years Solihull have produced teams that know how to close down teams and make it hard for them and today that did just that.

From the off Coventry looked like a team that had never played together before, make simple mistakes that started to cost us. Solihull's opening goal came from a intercepted pass which left Soz stranded. When Coventry did have a chance they either put it wide or blazed it over. Solihull scored again when the ball broke free to the Solihull forward who slotted it into the back of the net. Slowly Coventry got back into the game and their opening goal came from Emmo with a lovely header.

Half time: Solihull 2 - 1 Coventry City Ladies

From the half time team talk the girls knew what they where doing wrong and also knew how to fix it as well. Coventry where now on the up but could not put the ball away. Solihull always looked threatening on the break but Loz and Fuzzy coped well. Coventry made it 2-2 with a goal from Kaileigh and then she made it 2-3 to Coventry. Coventry swapped keepers giving Chloe her first game in goal. Solihull brought it back to 3-3 with a goal from a free kick. Coventry still went looking for the winner and Kaileigh duly obliged making it 3-4.

Final Score Solihull 3-4 Coventry

This was the best thing to happen to the girls today as they will go away and realise that they still have to work and learn if they want to improve.

One of the few positives to come out of the game was the fight the girls showed and the never giving up.

Coventry City Ladies 10 - 0 Aston Villa Reserves
League 14/10/06

Coventry took on Aston Villa today in a top of the table clash with both teams undefeated so far this season, someone's undefeated record was about to go. Aston Villa started brightly and for second week on the trot Coventry struggled to get going. Soon Coventry where peppering the Villa box and goal keeper with shots but none would go in, was this going to be one of those games. Once Coventry got their opener scored by Gobby they never looked back and the goals kept on coming Beth, Emmo and an own goal taking the total to 4 by half time. Up front Gobby was her usual self and Beth had one of her better games. Loz, little Lucy, Charlie and Bianca stifled anything villa had to offer upfront with Loz having an outstanding game and when Soz(swampy) was called on she coped brilliantly.

Half time score: Coventry City Ladies 4 - 0 Aston Villa Reserves

The second half saw Coventry start where they left off with 3 quick goals killing off any hope Villa had of getting back into the game. Little Woods scoring with nearly her first touch. Sophie added to her growing total with her first of the game. Tea Bag who was having a great game on wide right did everything but score not once but it seems to the frustration of Debbie her mum a thousand times. Cheesy was having an outstanding game in the middle of the park with Emmo and they both seemed to be everywhere. Gobby was given an instruction on Wednesday on the way home and she for filled her instructions by scoring her hat-trick and not only that, but added a 4th as well. Daisy and Chloe also showed how much they are improving by not looking out of place when they came on. Daisy particularly coming on leaps and bounds.

If I was being very clinical then Coventry wasted far too many chance early on in the game. What was pleasing to see was the passing the movement and the great attacking football. A special mention to Villas keeper who was outstanding by far the best keeper have seen this season. Tea Bags mum had a very hard choice today with at least 4 player standing out.

Redditch United Gem 2 - 9 Coventry City Ladies
League Cup 7/10/06

This was the first away game of the season and it saw us travel to Redditch who where undefeated in the league the same as us.

Redditch started the brighter of the two teams and Coventry could not cope with the 100mph nature of Redditch’s play. For the first time this season Coventry went a goal down. Slowly oh so slowly Coventry got into their game with Emmo running the midfield partnered today by Gobby. The goals soon started to come with Coventry scoring 6 in the first half. Emmo, Beth and Tia and Gobby all getting on to the goal sheet.

Half time: Redditch United Gem 1 - 6 Coventry City Ladies

Coventry started slowly again 2nd half but soon got into their stride with 3 more goal coming 2nd half. If I was being critical it should have been a lot more if the girls had been a little more clinical in front of goal with Beth and Gobby missing clear cit chances. With Soz?s mum dancing around on the side line like a cheerleader and the other parents roaring the girls on the game never looked in doubt, even when Redditch pulled a goal back.

Emmo scored her hat trick and the the 9th goal we gave to Soz as we don’t know who scored it. The ref had 9 goals as did the parents and the players but no one claimed the 9th goal.

Emmo 3 Beth 2 Kailiegh 2 Tia 1 and Soz 1

Coventry Played well today but never really got out of second gear. There is lots more to come from this team and they can only get better as the learn more and more.

Parents Player of the match Tia Sheldon.

Moment of the match Kaileighs attempted cross which ended up as a full ballet move straight from swan lake the only difference being she ended up on her back side.

Coventry City Ladies 2 - 1 Leamington Lions
League Cup 30/9/06

his was always going to be a test today against a team one division higher. Coventry where without influential centre half Fuzzy who was away on holiday.

This brought about a change at the back with Charlie switching to centre half and Biancca coming in as left back. There was also an injury concern about Kaileigh who was suffering from an infection. Mae started her first game of the season after scoring three last weekend. From the off you could tell that this was a lot stronger opposition and the girls where going to have to role their sleeves up if they wanted to win. Leamington where quick on the break and soon had the defence working hard. Soz had more touches in the first 10 min than she has had in the whole of the other games we have played, and with customary ‘soz’ with every kick she showed what a good keeper she could be. Coventry goal came from it usual source as Kaileigh broke free to slot one home. From then on Coventry where pinned back and Leamington showed the girls how football should be played. Coventry where making simple mistakes but to be fair this was the first time they have been asked to work really hard. Leamington goal came from one such mistake. When the girls did not step up and got caught as girl burst through the defence and slotted the ball passed a stranded Soz.

Half time score: Coventry City Ladies 1 - 1 Leamington Lions

After a little chat from the manager and some word of encouragement to all the players, the girls knuckled down and began to pin the Leamington team into their own half. Coventry’s winning goal came from Natalie who picked the ball up in the centre of the field and let rip with along distance effort that bounced over the keeper and into the back of the net. Coventry could and should have scored more in both half but for an outstanding performance from the Leamington keeper. Molly had her best game so far (in her mums words go be ‘mean Molly’ as she ran on). Towards the end Coventry where made to fight for every ball as Leamington went looking for the equalizer. The defence where immense as they cleared, kicked and hacked every ball away. There were lots of worried looking parents on the side line all looking at their watches.

Coventry where made to work really hard today. But this was the most enjoyable game to be involved in as the girls learn more from this type of game than winning 10/11 nil every week. Well done girls.

Coventry City Ladies 11 - 0 Coundon Court
League 23/9/06

With Coventry nearly fielding a full strength side with only Charlene who is out with a long term leg injury (get well soon Sick Note) and Molly missing, Coventry started off brightly against a team they had played in a pre season friendly. Once again the girls showed they had been listening in training and where trying to pass the ball about. Coventry spent nearly the entire first half camped in the Coundon half, but struggled to make the pressure tell. The goal came in around the 20th minute when the ball broke to Beth who slotted passed the keeper scoring her first of two. The last 10 minutes we were able to score 5 more with Beth getting her second, Natalie, Mae 2 and Emmo.

Half Time: Coventry City 6 - 0 Coundon Court

Coventry soon started scoring again with Kaileigh score her first of 2 Coventry never looked like conceding a goal all game with Lucy and Fuzzy able to roam around in the Coundon half at will. Mae grabbed her first hat trick of the season. The move of the game came when the ball was played across the from one side of the pitch to the other then played down the line and then crossed in the box.

Great game today from a group of girls who have only been together for 2 months.

Match Quotes:
"We rose to the challenge once again" Kaileigh
"A notable goal difference proves who the supreme team are" Sharon (Kaileighs Mum)
"A fantastic performance today from all the girls, it was really good to be able to give some of the squad players a longer game. Roll on the Cup" Manager

Coventry City Ladies 2 - 4 Knowle Town B
League 16/9/06

Coventry started off the day with a scare, with an early morning phone call saying that Soz was doubtfully with a turned ankle. After a fitness test she was cleared to play a big thank you to Chloe for being on standby.

Coventry started off well trying to play some nice football. It was obvious from the off that Knowle could play football and some very quick players up front. Coventry took the lead midway thought the first half with Kaileigh the scorer. Little Lucy was having a really battle with their number 11 and the Knowle equalizer came from a break from this girl who slotted the ball away with ease. Coventry spent the rest of the first half in camped in Knowle half. The pressure soon paid off with Kaileigh scoring her second.

Half Time: Coventry City Ladies 2 - 1 Knowle Town B

Knowle came out in the second half with their heads up and came looking for a goal. This came when a ball was played across the box and an unmarked Knowle player hit the ball into the back of the net. Changes where made and Coventry where soon firing on all cylinders. Mae broke into the box only to see a penalty turned down. The unrelenting pressure soon show when Sophie shot through a crowed goal to make it 3-2. Emmo who was back on after coming off with a bang to the head broke, free and was brought down in the box. Emmo stepped up and dispatched a well take pen to make the score 4-2.

Mangers comments, "That was a great game of football with Coventry having load of the ball. Both Kev and I learnt load from this game. The girls really pulled the game round with some fantastic pressure."

Parent Player of the Game Lucy Smith. Well Done Lucy

Coventry City Ladies 10 - 0 Alveston Juniors
League 9/9/06

Coventry Started the season off with a fine win over League new comers Alveston.

From the off Coventry played some great football, with Kaileigh look threatening every time she got the ball. The midfield quartet of Natalie, Emmo, Eryn and Sophie where giving great support to the front two Kaileigh and Beth. The Coventry pressure soon paid off with Kaileigh scoring her first of six in the game. More goals followed with Sophie and Beth getting in the goal scoring act, and Kaileigh scoring three more.

When called upon the defence where able to clear the ball with easy. Lucy and Charlie showing great composure on the ball. Emma was able to help the midfield when needed and Lauren cleared up when the Alveston attack broke free. Soz was not called on that often in goal but when she was she did it comfortably.

Half time: Coventry 6 - 0 Alveston

With five changes made during the end of the first half and at half time Coventry Started where they left off. Bianca was now playing wide left and always looked a threat. Mae soon open her scoring for the club with a goal straight from the training Ground (the training does work then). Tia was now wide right and playing out of position but this did not show as she took players on and scored a goal that would have graced the Rioch Arena. Kaileigh kept on scoring with two more in this half.

Molly was work hard in midfield alongside Emmo. The defence was called on a little more in the second half and the girls did well. With Chloe gaining confidence as the game went on.

Manager's comments "Great game from the girls today. Could not ask any more of them. We can only get better as the team have only been together 6/8 weeks for 14 of the girls this is the first time they have played 11 a side football. Well done Girls!"

Coventry City Ladies B 3 - 7 Coventry City Ladies A
Friendly 26/8/06
Report by Sharon Pahnke

The game kicked off with both teams trying hard for that first goal. With a few corner kicks given to us no goal was achieved. A-team played the ball well down the pitch with some good passing. Erin went in for the tackle, she then had a good run with the ball but was put under too much pressure from the A-team and couldn't find the support from her own players. The A-team then took control and scored 1-0. A-team continued to control the match our defence pushed to their ability. We continued to try and get that first goal, a good pass from Emmo to Erin shot on goal but unlucky. A- team pushed hard and get their second goal 2-0, then came the third 3-0.

We were starting to get desperate to even up the score with a couple of shots on goal. A-team then had a chance but Lauren made a great save. With more determination the girls picked up their game with a goal from Kaileigh 3-1. The A -team stepped up their game and scored again 4-1.

Half time: Coventry City Ladies B 1 - 4 Coventry City Ladies A.

The girls feeling a bit deflated now needing that talk from Dave to get some better football going on.

The second half the A-team started off strong going for that fifth goal straight away our defence held well. Our girls were trying hard with some good individual football skills but not gelling well together. Kaileigh managed to push through and get our second goal 4-2. This made A-team step up their game again going straight in for a goal with some fumbling between our defenders sadly we let in an own goal 5-2. We put the pressure back on scoring our third goal 5-3.

The game continued to get tougher for us the added pressure made our play a bit sloppy, which led to another own goal 6-3. A-team got a corner which was played wide, Molly defended passing well to Emmo she had a good run went for the shot but was knocked wide. This gave us a corner well taken by Kaileigh, looked like it was in but no goal. The A- team took a quick throw in went for the shot rebounded off soz . they were quick to the rebound for another goal 7-3. Final whistle blew.

A-teams experience together won the game but B-teams talent shone through to get them three goals. Well played both teams

Coventry City Ladies 4 - 1 Bournville Warriors
Friendly 12/8/06

Coventry kicked off their pre season friendly against Bournville with a victorious 4-1 win. Coventry had a superb first half dominating the match with the ball being played in their half the majority of the first half. Sophie played well continuing to bring the ball down the left hand side passing it well, within the first five minuets Bethany scored and easy goal for Coventry City after a rebound from the Bournville keeper, making it 1-0 up to Coventry.

Good defending from Charlotte prevented Bournville getting a shot on goal. Emma kept playing the back to their half, with some good football skills in midfield. Lucy and Emma defended well returning the ball from a free kick. More excellent defending from Lucy and Lauren playing the ball to Sophie to bring it down the left hand side with a good shot on goal, but good defending from Bournville prevented another goal.

Bournville then defended again to stop Coventry scoring from a corner kick. Bournville then took control and looked like they were going to score but due to good defending with Charlotte & Lucy a goal was prevented. Sophie continued to bring the ball back to their half got Kailiegh to take a shot on goal but missed. Bournville took a goal kick, going straight to Emma and Lauren bringing the ball back down. Good passing and continued determination with Bethany and Cody for another shot on goal, then continuing with a near miss from Kailiegh, and a rebound off goal keeper again Kaileigh went for goal, this lead into a corner kick placed well into Sophie, with a good save from Bournville goal keeper.

Bethany then went on to score a good second goal from a well controlled pass from Kailiegh making the score 2-0. Lauren then defended well and kicked the ball, to return it back down their half. Another corner was taken by Kaileigh, placing it well making Bournville step up their defence, with a goal kick being given.

Bournville tried to pull back, took a shot on goal with one excellent save from Lauren managing to lift the ball over taking the ball over the cross bar. Louise played superbly with some good tackling to return the ball back to their half.

Half time score: Coventry City Ladies 2-0 Bournville Warriors

Half time 2-0 up Coventry girls are in good spirit, the first half was well played by both teams with good, friendly play. Second half started well with both teams playing equally well, Kaileigh nearly scored from a corner kick. Emma then scored a superb goal making the score 3-0.

Bournville then stepped up there game pushing our defenders hard, but the girls stayed in control. Bournville took a shot on goal which Lauren saved to prevent a goal. Bournville continued to try and score with two more shots on goal, then finally managing to push though our defence and get one past Lauren. Good goal from Bournville, making the score 3-1.

Bournville still making our defenders work hard, but with the help of Emma, Charlotte and Lauren the defence was kept tight. Some good passing with Emma, Kira and Sophie brought the ball back up their half. A well calculated kick taken by Kaileigh scored our 4th goal straight from the corner. The game continued to be played in their half with some good defending. A corner was played which was well placed for Cody who took the shot, but unfortunately missed.

It was a nice clean, fair played game from both sides. Manger David was very pleased with the result telling the girls the game was “fantastic!”
