Coventry City Girls FC Under 16A Match Reports 2006/07 Coventry City Ladies 0 - 0 Crusaders In an excellent performance by both teams, many spectators were entertained with end-to-end action. The City back four Maireade McMenemy, Sinead Byrne, Shannon Middleton and Adele Kenny, worked hard and showed the management that they are listening to us at training! Shannon Middleton made a number of spectacular covering tackles when Crusaders threatened Coventry’s goal. Keeper Sarah Morgan looked confident between the sticks making a number of crucial saves, keeping her first clean sheet of the season and earning a well-deserved Manager’s Player of the Week. Midfield pair Lianna Mudd and Tamsin Noonan are working well together supplying many through balls to wingers Roxanne Kinsella and Danielle Lee both having a great game each making impressive solo runs down each flank. Taz earned Assistant Manager’s Player of the Week, and Muddy was awarded Spectator’s Player of the Week. The game could have gone either way with Crusaders forcing great saves from Sarah Morgan. Coventry’s striking duo Stevie-Rae Roberts and Kayleigh Steele each nearly securing the win, with Stevie having a shot saved and Skipper Kayleigh having seen the Crusader’s keeper advancing off her line tried a lofted shot, only to see her effort bounce off the cross bar. City substitutes, Nicola Harrison (Tamsin Noonan) and Sinead Todd (Adele Kenny), looked confident, both playing well in their positions. With 15 minutes remaining, Danielle Lee was just about to make another break down the right flank, when she was tackled and went over on her left ankle. Dani had to come off and Taz came back on and Nicky covered the right flank. In the girls’ third match playing together, they are beginning to take on board what is expected from them. Just a little more confidence in yourselves and more communication on the pitch and the rewards will come. Our thoughts are with Danielle Lee (Metatarsal) and Helena Storey (Ribs), Wishing them both a speedy recovery. The squad would like to see you both at our next home game. Well done girls a fantastic performance.
