Coventry City Girls 5 - 1 Marston Green Girls
5/11/10 - League
Today we played Marston Green Girls at home. Coventry kicked off and went straight at Marston Green pushing into the box early on with Morgan’s great shot saved by the keeper. Marston Green came forward from the goal kick but we soon won back the ball and pushed forward with a great shot from Morgan forced wide for a corner. Ellie-Mai’s corner was cleared but then in the scramble for the ball Coventry gave away a free kick in Marston Green’s half. From the free kick Marston Green made a really good run forward but great defending from Kacey and Zoe who put the ball out for a Marston Green throw. Marston again pushed forward with a good try but was well defended by Coventry who pushed the ball wide for a corner. Ana then made a great save from the corner. From the goal kick Morgan ran forward and had a great shot saved by the keeper. Ellie-Mai took the corner that was deflected into the net by Marston Green, own goal. 1 – 0 to Coventry. Marston Green came forward but Kacey defended well and won the ball, Morgan and Ellie-Mai took the ball forward passed to Lilly who shot and scored. 2-0 Coventry. Marston Green again pushed forward and had a really good shot at goal but Ana made the save of the game, pushing the ball just wide. From the corner Coventry won the ball and Morgan ran forward had a shot which was well saved by the keeper. Half Time
Half Time: Coventry City Girls 2 – 0 Marston Green Girls
Marston Green kicked off but we soon won the ball and a great run by Ellie-Mai and a great shot GOAL 3-0 Coventry. Marston Green had a good shot on goal and Coventry had a few chances with Lilly and Elli-Mai shooting just wide. Marston Green made a great run from the goal kick, beat our defence and had a great shot Goal, 3-1 Coventry. The goal gave Marston Green a boost and they had a few chances but good defending from Lola kept them out. Ana’s goal kick went to Ellie-Mai who made a great run down the wing into Marston Greens half, she crossed the ball to Lilly who had a run at goal and a great shot GOAL, 4-1 Coventry. We quickly won the ball again and Lilly ran down the left wing crossed into the box and Morgan slid in to score GOAL 5-1 Coventry. Coventry pushed forward again and Ellie-Mai had a great shot saved. Marston Green then came forward and one of the girls went down in the box, Penalty. Marston Green took the penalty but shot just wide. The game was end to end now with Marston Green really trying to get a late goal. In the last minute Marston Green had a good shot pushed wide. A goal mouth scramble from the corner and Coventry cleared the ball off the line. Full time.

Leamington Lions 0 - 17 Coventry City Girls

Our first cup game was away to Leamington Lions. Coventry girls played really well. Big respect must go to Leamington Lions who never once gave up against a Coventry side that were on top form.

Coventry City Girls 1 - 2 Leafield Athletic

Today we played Leafield Athletic at home. Coventry girls kicked off and the game started well, Leafield got the ball and started to apply the pressure. They had come forward but a great City defence put the ball out for a corner. Coventry girls then won the ball and made a great run forward all the way to Leafield goal but Lilly’s shot went wide. Leafield pushed forward again but Morgan made another great tackle and passed the ball to Ellie-Mai who ran towards the goal and passed to Lilly whose shot went just wide. Leafield again pushed forward but Coventry’s defence forced the ball out for a corner. Leafield took a good corner but again the City defence were solid and our keeper Kacey soon had the ball. A good kick from Kacey and we were again pushing forward looking for that first goal. Lilly, Ellie-Mai and Gracie got the ball into the box and Ellie-Mai’s shot needed a really good save from the Leafield keeper to keep it out. The game was end to end and Leafield were again pushing forward. They had a shot on goal which again was kept out by our defence for a corner. Leafield took a good corner and after a goal mouth scramble scored. 1-0 to Leafield. Coventry kicked off; they kept their heads up and pushed forward straight away but just couldn’t get the ball into the back of Leafield’s net. Leafield then came back at Coventry and had a really good shot at our goal which needed a super save from Kacey to keep the game at 1-0 for the first half.
Half Time: Coventry City Girls 0 – 1 Leafield Athletic
Leafield kicked off the second half and came straight at Coventry but again our defence won the ball and pushed forward, a good run by Morgan and Ellie-Mea brought the ball back to Leafield box and then crossed in to Lilly who turned and shot, Goal. 1-1 Leafield kicked off again but Coventry’s goal had boosted our girls and they really kept the pressure on. We had the ball in their box a good few times but the Leafield defence and keeper just kept us out every time. Lilly and Gracie both had chances blocked and Ellie-Mai’s shot went just wide. The goal kick got the ball into the Coventry half but a great tackle again by Morgan who passed to Lilly. Lilly made the run from our half past 3 Leafield players and took a good shot which needed a really good save from the Leafield keeper. It looked like we would score another as we kept pushing forward, keeping the pressure on Leafield. We won another corner which was saved by the Leafield keeper. Leafield then picked up and again the game was end to end. They broke forward and forced a super save from Kacey who pushed the ball wide for a corner and then made a good save from the corner cross. Coventry then took the ball into the Leafield box and forced the keeper to push wide, a good corner kick from Ellie- Mai to Gracie whose shot was saved by their keeper. With a couple of minutes left Leafield came forward and scored their second, 2-1 to Leafield. Straight from the kick off Coventry really tried to get another goal and a great run from Morgan whose shot was just wide. For the last couple of minutes Coventry kept the ball in Leafield's half but just couldn’t get the equaliser before the final whistle.
